Since I was a kid, I always had crazy ideas. The majority would come and go, but the one that always stuck was the idea of one day owning my own business.
I remember in my home-mac class of my high school senior year, my teacher (Mrs. Davis!) who I still love to keep up with on Facebook, handed out a slip of paper that asked each of my classmates and me what we wanted to do within 5 years time, and 10 years time of graduating.
The two things I wrote for both of the 5 and 10 year timelines, is that I wanted to travel, and own a business. There may have been nothing else at the time that I could have thought of, I guess a typical answer could have been get married, have children, or a home, but I knew deep down I had and still continue to want to journey on the discovery to finding myself and my purpose before introducing anybody else into the mix.
I have been a consistent traveler throughout my life and studied abroad in college, so it didn't take me long to begin living my travel dreams, but it took nearly 8 years after graduating high school to start my own business.
I never knew what the business would be, or what I would name it, but I kept faith that it would one day happen. After gaining tremendous experience in the events field and breathing lots of love and lots of light into my crazy idea that popped into my head as a kid, in my mid-20s, the era of Lululevents began, and so here we are.
I quickly learnt that the journey of starting your own business from nothing is no walk in the park, but surprisingly one of the easiest things after I had figured out what my business would be, was my business name.
I knew I never wanted my business name to have my name in it, and since I don't have any children, the closest living being to an extension of me, was my late cat, Lulu. We had adopted her at 10-years old and instantly started calling her lemon, short for Lululemon, and bunches of other crazy lemony names. Thus, with an event planning business, Lulu + Lululemon + Events = Lululevents. I had came up with the perfect name for my business, and every day I get to plan events and do what I love, in honor of my late cat. Crazy ideas and crazy names all make sense one day, even if it takes decades!
